Suggest Treatment For Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Hi. I suffer from GAD anxiety and recently I have been having phobias or fears that I have swallowed inedible items. My brain goes from oh you need to clean that glass up , to oh you may have swallowed a piece . It is very annoying and I m not sure what causes it. If I loose something I think I swallowed it :( it s stupid but a fear. What is this all about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Generalised anxiety disorder is characterised by restlessness, constant worry and problems with concentration. This is a treatable and controllable condition. Counselling, cognitive and behavioral therapy can be done with a psychologist. In case of persisting symptoms Antidepressants like Benzodiazepines should be used.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
