gas trouble
My main complaint is gas trouble. i have problem with my stool consistency ( break off into tiny bits). I go to gym so i started taking whey protein. I started noticing the stool consistency after that. It felt like the bowel movements has increased since then, 2 months back. I took whey protein for 3 days and stopped. hyper gi motility has decresed but i pass stool like 4 times a day. My diet has a lot of proetein and milk. no previous h/o lactose intolerance. no blood in the stool. have like 5 meals/day. no stomach ache, loss of weight, nausea, vomiting. i've problem attending 3-4pm class because of the bowel sound felt like coming from caecum/rectum. please advice.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Although there is no history of lactose intolerance, allergy can occur with anything and any time in life. It seems that lots of milk, whey protein and changed and large diet have caused the changes in your bowel movement pattern.

I would advise you the following in such a situation:
•     Stop whey protein for sometime.
•     Increase fiber contents in food like green leafy vegetables, full citrus fruits, carrots, and such things.
•     Lady finger that is Bhindi helps in good evacuation.
•     You can also try a mild laxative or stool softener to ease stool evacuation.
•     Observe the foods and beverages that might be causing the present problem and stop altogether.
•     Continue exercises but also increase fluid intake.
•     Consult your doctor or a gastroenterologist for proper further guidance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
