I got my granddaughter yesterday from her Mom and she is very constipated. She lives in Chicago I live in Wisconsin and she has been this way since she was born . I asked her mom to talk to her Dr and see what s the problem and she keeps saying it s nothing wrong she just need more fiber. She is hollering and screaming straining trying to take a bowel movement and she can t this can go on for 30mins or so I m concerned about her bowels erupted is there anything I can give her or what should I do
Understanding your concern. As per your query your granddaughter is having symptoms of frequent constipation which occurs due to many reasons such as irritable bowel syndrome, poor digestion and absorption of food, eating a lot of dairy products, acidity and lack of fibers in diet. Identification of cause is most important. Need not to worry. You should avoid intake of hot, sharp and spicy food substances. For now drink lot of warm water , do light exercises and brisk walk , do not lay down immediately after having food , avoid fatty and heavy meals. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order colonoscopy or other tests to look for blockages in your colon. You should get barium studies and blood test for hormonal changes. Doctor may prescribe you stool softeners as well.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
