Suggest Treatment For Frequent Attacks Of Migraine

Hi, I have suffered with migraines from the age of 9, I am now 17 and the migraines are unbearable. I usually get more than 4 a week and sometimes have one each day of the week. My doctor has tried me on several medications and I am currently on Topiramate and have been for over 4 months. However, it has no effect at all. My migraines are now getting worse in terms of pain and I feel dizzy an faint all the time, have lost my appetite and feel sick when I do eat. What should I do?

Hi.

I had gone through your query.

Migraine can be treated with following ways.

1. Acute treatment.

Acute attack can be treated with analgesic like paracetamol, diclofenac, sumatriptan/almotriptan etc.

2. Prophylaxis treatment.

Migraine attack can be prevented with topiramate, amitryptiline, sodium valproate, flunarizine and propranalol.

If you have still attack in spite of topiramate then need to change medicines or add another medicines for total control.

Consult neurologist for further help.

I hope i have answered your query.

Thank you.
