Suggest Treatment For Fractured And Swollen Shin

I fractured my shin two years ago, and it healed. Two months ago I bruised it from impact, it swelled up badly, then healed. Two weeks after, I again hurt it from impact, and was struggling to walk, after that had healed, I have been suffering from throbbing of the same place in my shin, and have no suffered impact to the same place, and it has swollen again. Is it likely to be just bruising or more? What should I do, should I go to hospital?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

I have studied your case
There can be tibial bony contusion.
As x ray may be essential to rule out fracture so I will advise to consult doctor.
As hematoma is there, you need to take rest and use splint or compressive crepe bandage to reduce swelling.

Watch for increase in redness, infection.
Take precaution to avoid infection around hematoma.
Do not use hot fomentation or massage you can do ice fomentation.
If required you may need to do blood investigation for prognosis and recovery.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
