Suggest Treatment For Fever Sore Throat And Ear Ache

Hello Dr. Bhatti, I have had a cold for the past week along with a sore throat. Quite recently my left ear has taken a toll on me since it has become slightly inflamed and has augmented my hearing. As a consequence to the ear drops I have taken the past two nights, I have awaken with crusty eyes (almost as if glued together) and today both of my eyes are red after washing the in the morning to eliminate the crust. If it helps I am fifteen years old and my personal suspicion of causes for these sicknesses may be my lack of sleep due to a demanding academic schedule or the spring season though I am not feeling the symptoms of allergies. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi

Welcome in H.C.M.

I understand your concern, here I would like to tell you that all your symptoms are due to upper respiratory tract infection involving throat, eustachian tube and ear.

Due to throat infection pharyngeal end of eustachian tube (tubular connection between throat and ear) gets blocked which results in negative pressure in middle ear and patients observe it as ear blockade and pain.

You should now take-

1- Warm saline gargling and steam inhalation.

2- Tab Paracetamol.

3- Anti histaminic.

Probably above will solve your problem.
