My husband is 68 he had a flu shot about 3 weeks ago. Suddenly last night he came down with a fever. He is very cold even though he has blankets on him and he has body aches. He had a fever of 102.5 a little while ago. I gave him ibuprophin and he is drinking water. Should he go to the ER? He keeps saying he does not want to but how high of fever can he have before it is dangerous? Thank you
Your husband having fever and body ache... It could be viral or bacterial infection... If jaundice and yellow sclera and abdominal pain present than early hepatitis can present with such early symptoms....
Rule out malaria and dengue also in which fever with myalgia can occur...
Your work up done in following ways.... -Auscultation -CBC -SGPT and SGOT only if needed -Peripheral smear examination esp for malaria
According to cause specific treatment guided
Symptomatic management otherwise done with benadryl and paracetamol with lots of fluid drinking
