Looking at your symptoms,the feeling of something hanging around in the back of the throat most probably would be uvula(it is a part of the palate which normally hangs in the posterior part of throat).Sometimes mucus cough secretion may give you a feeling of something hanging in the throat. Regarding tightness in the throat,you might be suffering from inflammation in the throat. You may find relief by taking the following medicines: Antihistaminic like Cetrizine, Mucolytic like Ambroxol and Analgesic and anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen. Also do warm saline gargles.Do steam inhalation.Drink lots of fluids(warm) as they help in break down of mucus secretions.Avoid cold,very sweet ,oily food,milk and milk products as they increase mucus production.Avoid dust,smoke and other pollutants.
