Suggest Treatment For Extreme Pain In Neck Muscles

My neckmuscles on both sides of the head are very painful. I have had a bad cold//sore throat for the last 2 weeks. the throat is ok now, but now these extremely painful neck muscles bother me. Even a 400 mg Ibuprofen did not help. I am female, 82 years old and in pretty good health otherwise.

Hello,
Welcome, and thanks for sharing your concern
I went through your query, and I feel, at your age the degeneration changes in your cervical spine would be causing stress on your muscles, and this can not be helped with only analgesics, if you can do the following.
1 Neck muscle ROM and strengthening exercises,
2 Use a cervical pillow when you sleep.
3 do not take excessive of ibuprofen it is not good for your stomach and kidneys.
4 do not sit for long, avoid long TV watching or reading.

I hope my advice would have been useful, in decision making regarding your treatment, still if you have any clarifications or doubts feel free to contact back.
Thanks.
