My hands feel extremely dry but no visual signs of dryness. My hands felt itchy and a little up my arm after I ate trail mix but that was this morning. I ve washed my hands several times and moisturized them but they still feel gritty and almost like I have some type of coating on them. Please help, Devin
Dry skin generally occurs in elderly and individuals who frequently expose their skin to soaps or detergents. The key symptom of dry skin is itching. People who have dry skin can often find rough, dry, red patches on their skin, and these patches are often itchy. Dry skin may be mimicked by a genetic condition called ichthyosis. Dry skin is also more common in atopic dermatitis, hypothyroidism, diabetes malnutrition etc and certain medicines like diuretics, retinoids, & isotretinoin etc. 1. Avoid strong soaps and detergents for washing hand 2. Apply over the counter moisturizer such as Elovera cream three time daily 3. Levoceirizine 5 mg once daily per oral if itching is unbearable 4. Use indoor room humidifiers 5. Limit exposure to irritants such as solvents 6. Do not scratch to much as it will cause infection
thanks
