Suggest Treatment For Esophagitis And Acid Reflux

Hello can I smoke marijuana having been diagnosed with esophagitis, which the doctor said was caused by acid reflux. I have a hiatal hernia in my esophagus closer to the stomach area ( 10 mm in size ) also behind my throat the esophagus feels injured due to the inflammation plus it often feels clogged/jammed. I ve been smoking for so long that it s just part of my lifestyle and I feel unwatchable from it but if I need to I will do my best to stop. Thanks in advance

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are nonspecific, but these may be suggestive of gastritis, GERD or a hiatal hernia so you should do gastroscopy to evaluate it more accurately.

This is caused by irritation of stomach mucosa by certain food or medications, stress and smoking.

SO firstly it should be treated with home remedies and changing dietary habits.

You need to avoid fried food, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol and spicy food. You should eat more milk products, vegetables and boiled food.

Also, certain antiacid medications may be required such as pantoprazole or Ranitidine.

In cases of severe pain, the diagnosis should be established with endoscopic tests which include gastroscopy or barium swallow test.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
