Suggest Treatment For Epulis Caused By Denture

I had a epulis, skin tag removed from the lower part of my mouth caused by my lower denture. Removal was very painful and I couldn t put in my denture for three weeks. Afterwards I saw my dentist and had my dentures realigned. The removable was in january, now it is the end of june and the tag or flap has come back again. I can t go through that pain again. Why is it back?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Epulis is a tumor like growth and it is not uncommon for epulis to regrow after surgery although it is benign. Surgical excision of the growth from its base along with the elimination of the causative factor seems to prevent recurrence. Let me tell you that this growth is benign in nature and there is no need for so much worry.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
