Suggest Treatment For Enterobacter Asburiae Infection

Hi, My son is in the NICU and has recently had to have a breathing tube. They tested some of his secretions and he has tested positive for Enterobacter asburiae cloacae. They have no way to tell if he is sick from this or if the bacteria is only colonized in the breathing tube. They have moved him into isolation and we now have to wear gloves and gowns. Now they are also wanting us to wear masks, is this necessary??

Thanks for the query. I have read your query carefully, and understood your concern.
Enterobacterasburaie cloacae is found to be resistant to most of the higher antibiotics.. so though the breathing tube was found to be positive for the bacteria your son is isolated . Being in isolation wearing of gown. gloves, masks becomes mandatory to avoid spread of the bacteria in outer world.
One of following specified , powerful antimicrobial like Betalactams, Aminoglycocides, Trimethoprime sulphamethoxazoleare to be chosen with help of doctor specialized in infectious disease
