Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Im 43 yrs old and my blood sugar level rises to maximum fasting 153 & PP 201 on last yr. Now, it is F-108 & PP-138 and HbA1c - 7.2. May I take medicine ? I walk 4-5 km /day now. I feel very tired in the evening after my work, Any medicine/vitamin u prescribe ?
Hello and thanks for your question. You have diabetes. A hemoglobin A1c over 6.5 is one of the diagnostic criteria for diabetes. I would suggest that you take metformin prescribed by your doctor. Your exercise is good. Working on a low carbohydrate diet cutting down on sweets, breads, rice, pasta and potatoes would be good. You need an eye exam every 1-2 years and education about taking care of yourself with diabetes.
Good luck to you Dr. Robinson
