Suggest Treatment For Edema And Spasms Across The Shoulder Blades
My husband is 58 and is currently having edema under his right arm with sharp pain (spasms) across his right shoulder blade. Also hurts his shoulder blade area when taking a deep breath. He has not pulled a muscle or anything like that. Any ideas on what may cause this?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your case history of edema around the shoulder. My treatment advice is :
1. Apply ice on the affected part twice daily. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like ibuprofen for 5-7 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harshit Bhachech
