Suggest Treatment For Eating Disorder

im a 18 yr old male who just cant seem to stop eating. at points it gets so bad its all i think about ill consume large amounts of food in a very short time to still not be full. ill crazy more so ill eat more and i loose control like eating 5 packs of fruit snakes after i ate pie and candy bars and what else is in front of me! i try to stop but i panic and freak out wanting to eat more and fill that empty spot still in my stomach. once the urge to eat is over i want to cry knowing eating all this is making me fatter and fatter each day! i just imagine wow if i wasnt in a sport how big would i be? i have such guilt so ill try to slow down on the eating to only be caused by another attack of shoving my face with food.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello and thanks for your query.

I understand that you are very distressed by your eating problem. From the description of your problem, it appears that you are suffering from an eating disorder called Binge Eating Disorder.

Persons with this disorder tend to eat too much of food, usually high calorie foods, in one go. These episodes are called binges. They often feel guilty and distressed after a binge, but are unable to exert control over their eating pattern.

Since this problem seems to be severe in your case, I would suggest that you seek professional help from a Psychiatrist. There are effective treatment strategies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which can help you overcome your eating problems. So, please don't hesitate to see a psychiatrist at the earliest.
