Suggest Treatment For Dry Flaky Skin On Face

My husband has been trying various creams (cortisone, coconut oil, bayer creams etc. etc. ) over the years. He has been to dermatologists as well. His problem is his face flakes and peels all the time. Under the flakes is red skin. He can have days where his face is pretty good and other days where its extrememly red and blotchy. The redness is generally in big patches on either side of his nose (cheek area) and spots on his chin and forehead. It is worse when he is in the sun as well. Is there a one time fee and not the unlimited. I don t want to pay every month.

Hello,

Dry flaky skin on face is commonly due to sunburn, extremes of temperature and weather conditions, allergy to pollutants, dry skin (xerosis cutis) or eczema and psoriasis. Your husband should avoid exposure to sunlight. He should use humidifiers at home or office. Since the skin has peeling tendency, he should use a good herbal based moisturizer. He should be adequately hydrated.

He can apply a thin layer of calamine cream or soframycin cream. He can use water based skin care products. He should take food rich in vitamin C and E. He can also take supplements , Evion -400, once daily for 10 days. He is suggested to get clinically examined by a dermatologist to rule out skin diseases like psoriasis, atopic eczema, etc. He may have to take some tests and investigations. He will be treated accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
