Suggest Treatment For Dry Flaky Patches On The Face For A 53-year-old
I am 53 year old female with a few dry flaky patches of skin on my face...primarily around and including my mouth. it has been present for a few weeks and goes from no flakes with red inflamed skin to very dray and flaky but no inflammation...nothing seems to make it better. This is a fairly new condition and I haven t had any other health problems, change in medications or diet.
I would first recommend you to just use vaseline ointment twice a day of the dry flaky areas of your face. If you notice no improvement with this in a week you may need to use an antifungal cream twice a day. Sometimes, a local steroid cream such as hydrocortisone can be applied together with the antifungal twice a day (a mild steroid cream is recommended as potent steroid creams should be used with great caution in the face).
If you notice no improvement with this treatment in 1-2 weeks or if you are noticing any worsening, please see your doctor.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
