I am a 65 year old male and have been in excellent health. I started having a dry cough about 3 weeks ago then 2 weeks ago started running a temperature 100 to 102 for a week and have continued to keep a low grade temp 99 to 100........ Still coughing with no other symptoms other than feeling fatigued. Please advise, thank you, Alan
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of dry cough since 5 weeks which are pointing towards condition known as severe upper respiratory tract infection. You may have have lung infection or bronchitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult pulmonologist without any delay. Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test and get an x ray of the chest and Immunoglobulin G levels checked for further treatment. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with decongestants and mucolytic agents. Do warm saline gargles with pinch of salt water. Take expectorants and steam inhalation and take rest. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. .
