Thank for consulting us
Yes dry cough is common in viral infections as opposed to wet cough in bacterial infectiins.
It's always good to confirm with some simple tests before treatment
1 Chest X Ray Rule out Pneumonia/ TB/
2. Full haemogram for any bacterial infection due raised WBC manily neutrophils or viral mainly lymphocytes
3. Chect Ct Scan can also be of help
Treatment depends on the outcome
1 Antibiotics
2. Anti cough syrups dry
3. Anti Allergens piriton/ cetrizine
Consult peaditricain or chest specialist.
