Suggest Treatment For Dry Cough And Shortness Of Breath

I am a normally healthy 60 yr old female. For the last 3 months, I have had a uncontrollable dry cough. My dr. diagnosed GERD and I started on Prylosec at 40 mg/day.After 5 days my ankles swelled terribly, then my calfs, then thighs, neck, arms, everything. I stopped taking the Prylosec and the swelling is going down. I continue to have hot flashes (for lack of a better term since I passed menopause some years ago. I have shortness of breath and a feeling of not getting in enough air especially when I m lying down. I have pain along the underside of my ribcage and when I burp, I make a strange gurgling sound as air is coming up my esophagus. Now, my entire body hurts or is tender to the touch, much like a flu ache. I have adopted a GERD diet and await my appt with a gastroenterologist in ten days. I do not have any acid in my mouth or burning in my throat. What are your thoughts? And, by the way, I am sleeping perpendicular upright in my chair and have been getting about 4 hours of sleep per night broken up into 3-4 segments. Please help!
