Suggest Treatment For Dry Cough And Pricking Sensation In The Face

I have RA and just started on methotrexate yesterday, in addition to plaquenil. Yesterday, after spending most of the day outside in the sun started having a dry cough and pinprick pain sensations in my face. Is this a side effect of the methotrexate?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Methotrexate may cause abnormal reaction of skin in the sun. It may cause severe redness, pain (Including specific little pain prick sensations) or peeling off skin in the affected area. Hence, exposure to sun should be avoided by these patients who experience such symptoms in the sun.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
