General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Lifestyle changes effectively help to control the symptoms. Take appropriate rest. Make dietary changes and a course of antibiotics will help to control infection. Take well cooked whole grains, vegetables, beans, legumes, fruits, nuts, etc. But a liquid diet may be recommended while the bowels heal. Slowly solid food can be added to the diet. Do not smoke, avoid intake of high animal fat, maintain healthy weight. Lifestyle changes can help control mild symptoms of diverticulosis but severe symptoms may require treatment by surgery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
