Hi I m Cindy. I have had a positive ana in the last 6 months. Diverticulitis, abcess on sigmoid colon, thyroid tsh has been up and down with dosage changes, tired, loss of hair, depressed, insomnia. What test should my doctor run to find out what is going on? Could all these symptoms be one autoimmune disease?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi.
As per your case history you are probably having systemic lupus erythematosus.
My treatment advice -
1. Hair loss in systemic lupus erythematosus is common finding and reversible with proper medications.
2. Take healthy nutritious diet containing green leafy vegetables and milk.
3. Take an iron supplement and vitamin b12 supplement once daily for 3 months.
4. Medications for systemic lupus erythematosus include oral steroids, azathioprine, hydroxy chloroquine taken after relevant investigations and consulting a dermatologist.

Consult a psychiatrist for depression and a physician for diverticulitis.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
MBBS, DDVL.
