Hi,

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

There is most likely gastrointestinal infection in your mother's case.

There is a need for detailed clinical examination and to know any degree of dehydration.

If there is no or mild dehydration it will be better to avoid tab Eldoper.
Tab Eldoper contains loperamide it does not improve the underlying cause of diarrhea like infection but it decreases frequency of loose motion.
In the presence of active infection use of loperamide may be associated with bacterial overgrowth and may flair the infection.

Loperamide may be used in secretary diarrhea or in the presence of moderate to severe dehydration.

It is advisable -
- To maintain hydration by drinking plenty of water with electrolytes.
- Avoid spicy, oily food.
- Have bland food like curd and rise, bananas.

Use antibiotic like Ciprofloxacin with Tinidazole may be advisable in case of increasing frequency, fever, abdominal pain, moderate to severe dehydration.

It will be better to follow her doctor's advise who knows her clinically.

Hope this helps you, if so do vote as helpful.
