My husband is on metodopramide because he is on tube feeding and had terrible diarrhea and has been taking since last August. Recently he has been depressed and sleeping a lot, I think from the medication. Is it possible to stop the medication and not have any bad effects?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello welcome to the health care magic

Sorry to heard about your husband condition

Kindly mention reason for which he has been inserted ryles tube and so nausea is present

Hence he has been given metoclopramide drug for that

If vomiting constantly present than antiemetic drug given daily

Muscle affection, depression, headache etc are side effect of this drug

So if needed ondensteron or other antiemetic drug prescribed If metoclopramide not suitable
Discuss with your treating doctor about that and provide your history for which tube inserted for further discussion

Take care

Hope this will help you
