Dear sir i can understand your concern i am very sorry for the condition of your father. in my opinion for a better control of infection its mandatory to have better control of diabetes. the treatment options of infection will vary with the extent of infection. In most of cases the wounds will heal with proper management with insulin and antibiotics. In very few cases due to extensive damage of bone with infection there is need to undergo amputation. this damage of bone can be identified with the help of X-ray and MRI. kindly let me know about the above reports for better analysis of case and suggestion. Hope I was able to help you. If you have any further question feel free to write me back. I will be happy to help. Take care. Best Regards. Dr Vamsi Krishna Consultant Diabetologist Apollo Hospitals
