General & Family Physician 's  Response
it can be due to both diabetic and prostate issues. poor urinary stream is likely to be due to prostate issue.hurting kidneys may be due to an acute infectons of kidneys which is very common in diabetic patients. so consult a specialized physician. he will do the digital rectal examination to see his prostate size. he will arrange ultra sound scan of his abdomen to see his kidneys and prostate. he may also advice to do relevant blood and urine investigations such as ufr, urine culture, serum creatinin , fbc,crp and psa levels. depend on results he will treat your husband's symptoms.
