Psychiatrist 's  Response
hi..thanks for writing.. i have understood your concerns..

first of all, person of depression wont show features you are describing..he must be elderly men above 70 years..

the depression, not acceptance of food, wandering, agitation and inattention is characteristic of dementia at this age..he has no depression..

in my opinion, you shud consult a psychiatrist [geriatric if possible] and tell him detailed history, take your father in law along with you..after proper history and clinical evaluation only, a diagnosis can be made and treatment can be started..

i hope this advice will be helpful to you..best luck..
