Suggest Treatment For Delayed Periods

Hi am kavya..now my periods is very delayed.i did consult the doctor.shes told tsh test.i did tsh test .I got thyroid 4.62 some thing .my age is 24 years. She preferd thyrox 25mg tablets.dis dose is useful or not could you please tell me dat suggestion.

Hello, Delayed or irregular menstrual periods can occur in hypothyroidism. But hypothyroidism is diagnosed when TSH levels are 10 mU/L or more. The level mentioned is normal, it does not fall in the category of sub-clinical hypothyroidism also. In such a situation I do not see the reason for prescribing Thyroxine 25 mcg tablets. It is possible that there may be other causes involved in delayed period. A more through check up may be needed. Thanks
