Suggest Treatment For Degenerative Joint Disease

I have fibromyalgia and and have had it for several yrs now. I take Lyrica and Ambien and Voltaren to help with my degenerative joint disease. Lab work has shown that my electrolytes are fine, potassium, calcium, magnesium and oh gosh I went brain went dead, but something else came back normal. My TSH came back normal too, but I started having severe leg cramps that wake me up during the night as well as upon rising for the day. He started me on Requip which helped for a month. I take 1mg. Have any ideas of what it could be? I thrive on my sleep and this isn t cutting it. I didn t realize there would be money involved. I was just hoping for a suggestion.

Hi,

Requip (Ropinirole)is used for 'Restless legs syndrome'. Lyrica (pregabalin) and Ambien (zolpidem) have nothing to do with degenerative joint disease. Voltaren (diclofenac) is NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) and is not recommended for long-term use due to adverse effects for Osteoarthritis-commonest degenerative joint disease. Topicals are prefered over oral. If NSAID is prescribed >1 week, you need to have co-prescription of PPI (proton pump inhibitor like pantoprazole etc.) to reduce gastrointestinal risk.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
