Suggest Treatment For Cyst On The Ovaries

Hi! I was diagnosed with a cyst approx. 5cm on my right ovary back in February. For my most recent cycle I had heavier than usual bleeding, and spotting for almost 2 weeks prior to my period, along with abdominal dullness/cramping. I haven t felt nauseous and only now am I having some difficulty when I poop. I know I should see a gynecologist but can t make an appointment until next week. Any advice for peace of mind? Thanks!

Hello,

It appears that the ovarian cyst that you have is an endometriotic cyst.

This cyst does not seem to be cancer. Cancer is an extremely remote possibility.

Take oral contraceptive pills for three months without a break. If the pain subsides it confirms that you have endometriosis and the cyst also is probably due to that.

I also suggest you do CA 125 as a baseline marker. It is slightly raised in endometriosis. But if it is very high it suggests cancer. Repeat ultrasound after three months.

If the cyst has not reduced in the size you may consider its excision.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
