Suggest Treatment For Cough & Chest Infection

I have pretty bad allergies, and GERD. I have recently had coughing spells, where I cough and mucus comes up, then it feels as thought my airway is completely closed, barely getting any air down. Lasts about 30-90seconds. Choking, eyes water, can t swallow...etc. Also, I wake up at night from a dead sleep to choking, gasping for air. Feels like thick spit lodged in my throat. VERY unpleasant way of waking up. What causes these episodes? They are very scary!

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion it is acute attack of bronchitis. As allergies and GERD can cause recurrent bronchitis. I suggest you to consult pulmonologist and get done chest x ray and pulmonary function test (PFT). This will help you in diagnosing bronchitis.
If this is normal than get done ECG to rule out cardiac diseases.
If you are smoker than quit smoking immediately.
So consult your doctor and discuss these things.
