Suggest Treatment For Cough , Back Pain And Sore Throat

I am on generic nexium and sululfate spelled wrong twice a day. I have been sleeping on several pillows. I have stopped eating 3 hours before bed. I have been walking up seversl times at night with my mouth half full of liquid and coughing, coughing and coughing. When I take my meds before bed, it feels like the pills are stuck somewhere down my throat, and I start coughing. This morning I woke up with a sore throat and center back pain from all the coughing. My doctor says I am on the highest doses of acid reflux meds. I don t drink or smoke. What is my next step????

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per you query you have cough, back pain and sore throat well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to respiratory tract infection and impaired immunity of body. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles several times a day. You should take small meals and avoid large and oily food. You should take plenty of fluids and multivitamins in diet. You should take steam twice a day. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order test like swab test , blood test, and viral culture test. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxiclav at least for 10 days along with decongestant. Maintain proper hygiene. Drink plenty of water and liquids.
