I have a cough, my chest feels heavy and a hoarse voice, this has been going on for a month. Prior, I had none of these symptoms , originally my Dr. Said it was a virus, but I don t think a virus should last 30 days. I am on day 14 of my quit smoking process

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Since your symptoms are going on for about a month, the first thing I would suggest is to get a proper clinical examination and investigations done.
I would advise you ::
Tests of blood including blood sugar, urine and X-ray chest.
Hoarse voice is an indication of an ENT opinion and Endoscopy to seethe changes in the larynx / vocal cords.
The treatment will depend upon the findings.
The chronic cough can be due to allergy, tuberculosis, asthma and so on. For the treatment to be curative one should opt for the most proper diagnosis.
