Suggest Treatment For Corneal Scarring

I have a scar on my cornea. I need cataract surgery and could have the cornea scraped first but I have heard that recovery is very painful. Will just opting for the cataract surgery improve my vision at least somewhat without having the scraping procedure?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
You might be having difficulty in vision due to cataract as well as corneal scarring.
Cataract is caused due to opacification of lens. It can be cured by means of cataract surgery wherein the opacified lens is removed by a small nick at the sclero-corneal junction and an artificial lens is introduced in its place. Vision obtained following cataract surgery would be far better than before.
Since you have corneal scarring, it could cause obstruction in vision, if it is not attended to. This might require corneal surgery in the form of graft, depending on the size and position of the scar.
Kindly consult Opthalmologist in this regard for proper evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
