Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Have been constipated for months and hardly have a bowel movement once a week and its a small amount of dry hard balls. I took laxatives yesterday after having stomach pain, still nothing. Took milk of magnesia earlier today and threw up. I exercise regularly drink lots of water eat healthy take fiber supplements. Why can t I have a bowel movement? What should I do? I have a doctors appt on April 10th with my primary doctor to get a referral to a gastrointestinal doctor.
I share your concerns as in spite of following good habits, you are facing the constipation. Constipation is a familial as well habitual problem. Your water intake should be 5 litres (minimum). Take fluids or water along with meals too. Fibres like vegetables, fruits are must, but you need to increase the quantity. Do exercises in morning and evening. Try yoga (pranayam- an Indian practice) as it stimulates complete body.
You should avoid high proteins like meat, take vegetable proteins. Don't drink alcohol and don't smoke. Sleep at same time daily with 7 hours of sleep. Take isabgol husk if still you don't get any relief.
Meet your doctor on appointment day if there is no relief.
I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write to hcm for follow up queries. I wish you good health. Hit a thanks. Thank you
