Hello,

Constipation can be due to various causes. Has the cause been investigated? If not detecting a problem like hypothyroidism or side effect of certain medicines and correcting the same can be a stable solution for the problem.
I am writing the following on the presumption that no cause has been detected.
You should follow a healthy life style
Increase your fiber intake: Adult men should eat at least 30 grams a day;
adult women should eat at least 20 grams a day. Whole grain foods, fresh
fruits and vegetables, legumes, and nuts are considered the best sources.
Increase your exercise.
Drink more fluids: It is recommended that adults consume
approximately eight, 8-ounce glasses of water (or other fluids) a day
Never postpone an urge to pass motion.
Laxatives of the irritant type are to be avoided as far as possible.
Bulking agents like psyllium methylcellulose, polycarbophil
Osmotic laxatives like magnesium hydroxide, polyethylene glycol (PEG) or lactulose are useful.
The product that many of my patients have found effective is Movicol which is Macrogol 3350 with electrolytes.
Wish you good health.
