Hi, Actilax contains lactulose which is used to treat constipation. In pregnancy constipation is quite common. Lactulose solution is like Actilax, it has been shown to be effective for the treatment of constipation associated with pregnancy when administered to women at the different stages of pregnancy. You can take Actilax for as long as the constipation lasts or for as long as your doctor has recommended. Ideally, you should only take it occasionally and for a few days at a time. Using it for longer can lead to prolonged diarrhea, electrolyte imbalances etc. An electrolyte imbalance can cause serious health problems like muscle spasms, twitching and even convulsions.
