Suggest Treatment For Constipation, Chills, Fever, Abdominal Cramps And Nausea

I have not had a bowel movement since Thursday. I have had chills, low grade fever, severe cramping and nausea. I have tried a mineral oil enema, which do nothing but come right back out. This evening I have taking 2 stool softener+ stimulant laxative and a suppository. The suppository said should have bowel movement within an hour again nothin happened except for the suppository coming out. Should I go to the doctor or continue to try OTC meds?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Whenever there is fever and chills for more than 48hrs its always advisable to visit a physician.
The first problem here is you took so many different medications with different methods of action at the same time.
If your constipation is not relieved despite laxative, stool softner and suppository use it is advisable that you try to exclude other causes like hirsprung or bowel obstruction aka Ileus. The fever and chills might be due to a secondary infection by bacteria's in the bowel.
I suggest you to go to your physician and exclude ileus as it is a medical emergency.
