Suggest Treatment For Constipation Along With Stomach Cramps

Hi there. I am a lap band patient, although my band is wide open at the time. I experience pretty severe constipation due to medications. I had my gallbladder removed in 2013, but last night, I had what felt exactly like a gall bladder attack. I was constipated x5 days, and after what felt like a clog come out, I had diarrhea. The stomach cramping and pain trough my intestinal track has continued. Just now I had another bout of diarrhea and it smelled of motor oil. I see my primary care dr on Thursday. Do you think it s ok to wait until then to be discussed or should I be seen sooner?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As first line management, you can take laxatives like lactulose for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
