Suggest Treatment For Constant Severe Pain On The Flank

I have been having horrible, constant pain on my right side for several months now. The pain travels around to the back where I have a slight bulging disc. The pain in my side seems to be right in between my hip and my rib cage. I can hardly function.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

NSAIDs like diclofenac along with muscle relaxants such as tizanidine or cyclobenzaprine can be advised to look for improvement.

If the pain is severe then IM injection of diclofenac sodium can be administered or narcotics like tramadol can be given.

Urinalysis and an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis and/or X-ray KUB can be advised to look for evidence of stone along the urinary tract that can also cause such pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
