Suggest Treatment For Constant Itching Even After Taking Medications

For the last two month specifically since 4/4 I have been experiencing swollen eyes with swollen face and lips and welts under my eyes. My doctor put me on antihistamines and steroids. She said it appears I am having some acute allergy limited to my face. She told me to use lanolin free soaps etc. She also told me not to eat seafood and drink wine as she thought it could be a sulfate allergy. I have taken two rounds of sreriods and every ftime I finish my dosage, w/in five days the face comes back. I am still taking antihistamines. itching is incredible. Not to mention I look terrible. I have an apt for allergy testing on 6/4. Seriously I have been living on grilled chicken and vegtables I cant imaging what s going on. any ideas ? I have to work and look like a freak!

Hi,

This seems like allergy (Atopy), as it is on the exposed parts of the body. Antihistamines are advised to be taken along with steroids if needed. The dosage of antihistamines and steroids are to be titrated according to symptoms. We should try to taper off the dose in a gradual manner and if possible then complete the stoppage of drugs. During the process of reducing the dose, the attempt should be made to first reduce the dose of steroid to nil and afterwards try to reduce the antihistamine.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
