Suggest Treatment For Compression Fracture In Back

my wife had a compression fracture in her back due to osteoporosis. shehad a surgical procedure that injected a bonding agent. since then has been in constant pain in mid to lower back area. standing for over a minute or two is almost impossible. has had targeted shots in the region of pain with no relief and is taking daily shots for osteoporosis. physical therapy isn t working either. does she have any options left for some relief of the pain without pills?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The pain is due to neuropathic causes. As a first line management, you can try analgesics like gabapentin or oxycodone which are quite effective in similar conditions.

If pain persists, better to consult an orthopaedic and plan for a steroid injection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
