Suggest Treatment For Colon Cancer While On Tylenol

My husband has been diagnosed with colon cancer. He is scheduled for surgry in 10 days. His doctor is in Scotland and not readily available to ask a question. My husband is experiencing gas pains. I was wondering if it s ok to give him Gas X and/or Tylenol to ease his discomfort until he flied back to Scotland in a couple of days ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your husband having cancer of colon and is scheduled for colon surgery in 10 days and has gas pains; since the Doctor in Scotland can not be contacted you want to know whether you can give him Gas-X and/or Tylenol to ease his discomfort until he flies back to Scotland in couple of days.
As per the history you have provided, it is understood that your husband has colon cancer and to be operated so has gas pains.
I would advise hi the following in such a circumstance:
Liquid diet only, plenty of oral fluids.
PPI like Omeprazole.
Something for anxiety and/or stress as prescribed by a local Doctor.
Enema to keep distal bowel clear.
Yesr, you can give him Gase-X and parcetamol.
I find this answer helpful
