Suggest Treatment For Colon Cancer In An Elderly Person

Mr. Brown, an 86-year-old patient with suspected colon cancer, underwent a colonoscopy. A large mass was found 12 centimeters proximal to the splenic flexure. Which part of the colon is this located in? Trace the route of the colonoscope to the location of the mass.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Splenic flexure (left colonic flexure) is the sharp bend between the transverse colon and the descending colon. It lies on the left side close to spleen.
From the colonoscopy report it states a large mass is seen 12 cm proximal to splenic flexure. That means it is located in the descending colon, but close to the junction between transverse colon and descending colon.
Hope the information provided helps.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
