Suggest Treatment For Cold,nasal Congestion And Heaviness In Head

Hi doctor. I have been having slight cold from last 5-6 days with a blocked nostril. Have lots of sneezing as well with heaviness in head every alternate day. Don't know which medicine to take as it is not full fledged cold but has been persisting from last 6 days. Thanks in advance.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from upper respiratory tract infection, also known as Common Cold and the symptoms of cold, snezing and heaviness in head seems to be due to it..
As it is a viral infection it will not resolve once the virus will complete its cycle in human body..
As of now you can start with supportive treatment to relieve the symptoms like:

-Gargle with a warm saline solution that is by mixing 1 teaspoon salt in a glass of water and warm it to make a luke warm solution..

-Take a combination of decongestant like Phenylephrine, mucolytic like Ambroxol and anti allergic levocetrizine and another combination of Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen..

-Chew a vitamin C pellet daily..

-Do steam inhalations..

-Avoid spicy and chilled foods..

-Sip on warm water throughout the day..

-Take appropriate rest..

Hopefully the symptoms will resolve within a week and if it worsen consult a General Physician and get evaluated..
