Suggest Treatment For Cold And Pain In Sinuses

Hello - I had a bad cold with painful sinuses abt 6 weeks ago which I picked up in Africa - after my flight home to Perth I was deaf for a few days. My hearing is back to normal but my right ear pops every time I swallow. If I block my nose and blow my ear makes squishy noises - sounds like a wet sponge. After doing this if I press below & behind my ear the spongy sound is still there. I have no earache. I went to a GP who prescribed Avamys nasal spray. I ve been using this for a week with no improvement. Also been steaming with a few drops of lavender oil. What can I do to clear this ? Thanks Alison

Hi,

It seems your cold had involved sinuses, blocked the Eustachian tube( connecting to middle ear.. thus controlling pressure on ear drum.)This caused deafness & now all the symptoms related to ear.

I would suggest consultation of an ENT specialist for examination, investigations that are needful & point out the present status of ear involvement followed by cause specific medication ( drugs like antibiotic, anti inflammatory, anti allergic with decongestant medication & any other needful procedure ).

Continue with nasal & ear drops. Do not try to clean ear yourself, do not try to wash it.YOu can take anticold drug like Synarest over the counter till you see the expert.
