Suggest Treatment For Chronic Vomiting And Diarrhea

My 17 year old daughter has been vomiting since 4:00 this morning. She did have diarrhea but not anymore. She is complaining of severe thirst. She can t keep ice chips, small sips of water or small sips of ginger ale down. We also tried small bites of Jello. Same result. Is it time to take her to urgent care or the ER? If so, which one?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have symptoms of chronic vomiting and diarrhea which seems to be due to food poisoning and acute gastroenteritis. It could be due to sudden systemic disturbances of body due to electrolyte imbalance. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take acetaminophen and antiemetic medication. You should take proper rest. You should take plenty of fluids to re-hydrate. If it keeps on persisting visit urgent care once a sit can cause hypovolemia as well. Take diet rich in multivitamins and avoid any oily sharp and fast food. Visit general physician once and get it examined. You should get blood tests done to find out underlying cause of condition and start treatment accordingly. Your symptoms will resolve in 3-5 days. Avoid intake of any outside food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
