Suggest Treatment For Chronic Migraine Headache And Eye Pain

I have chronic migranes with severe pain in my eye when I have a migrane episode, the pain in my eye is behind my eye where the veins attracted. My question is, I have been noticing black squiggly lines with black dots about 3 or 4 in my left eye. Is it something I should be concern?

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Your symptoms seem to be related to ocular migraine aura. It is common in migraine aura.

Nevertheless, I would recommend perform a brain MRI to exclude other possible causes (intracranial lesions, etc.).

If migraine attacks are frequent, you can start a preventive therapy. I would recommend starting topiramate or a calcium channel blocker (verapamil) for some months.

Hope to have been helpful!
Best wishes,
Dr. Aida
